Ohhhh Fletch

What a cutie right? Fletch is a labordoodle- yes that is a mix between a lab and a standard poodle- and he is 1 year 4 months. Labordoodles usually have more of the wirey, curly poodle hair. My brother, Ben, has Fletch's brother Huck, and he looks just like a labordoodle. But not our Fletch-he looks more like a lab but he is bigger and he has A LOT of energy. Will, Ben, and I agree that they are very loyal dogs and if you don't mind a big dog they are great! However, don't believe that they don't shed- that's only true of 3rd generation labordoodles. I had to get a very nice vacuum cleaner for Christmas last year because of the shedding!

Now for the story about his last trip to the vet to be neutered. We dropped Fletch and Brooks (our Australian Shepherd mix we rescued in Charlotte, NC) off on Wednesday at their normal boarding place. Sadly, we are out of town a good bit and we have to board them but they love it! The surgery was scheduled for Thursday and we would pick them up on Sunday after our trip to Charleston. I had a mother's instinct to call that weekend while in Charleston but Will said that if anything happened they would call us- boy was he wrong!

We walked into the vet, said that we were picking up Brooks and Fletch, and asked how the surgery went. Then the story came- and if you know Fletch this would not surprise you. The vet said after his surgery, he was not very mobile with the big cone in the run so they decided to take it off and put a towel-like contraption loosely around his neck. They wanted to make sure he was comfortable but also that he was not getting to his sticthes. Apparently, Friday night Fletch conspired with a dog next to him (we're still not sure if it was Brooks or not) to take the towel off and rip it to pieces. *Take note that this is not the first time Fletch as conspired. Call me or my mom crazy but we had Brooks tied with his leash to a tree while we were loading the car and mom swears she saw Fletch in Brooks' ear and the next thing you know Fletch has almost completely bitten through the lease to set Brooks free.* So not only did the vet not know how much of the towel he had consumed but he also pulled out his stictches. They had them redone and said he should be fine but just monitor his bathroom trips. What!? That's it- that's all you have to say!

In the end, Fletch was fine- of course and has not slowed down one bit- I might have overreacted initially. He is still a very cute and crazy labordoodle that we love!

Oh and here is Brooks dressed as a chick magnet for Halloween...
